Music-making has the power to transform lives
Music embodies hope for a better world. Every lesson, concert, and creation is inspired by hope, and we are grateful to our audiences and donors who make our hopes a lived reality.
Hope and Promise. Not only does the VYOA transform the lives of young people through music, we also provide them with something much more. Hope was the key factor that inspired our students to show up through the lockdown, and allowed us to keep going amid uncertainty. We are committed to helping them realize their potential, find their unique and authentic voice, and to foster lifelong relationships with their peers.
Make sure to join us this season as it is already shaping up to be so special. VYO with Vermont Symphony Orchestra musicians perform a side-by-side concert featuring works by Mexican composers, perform the Vermont premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain as the sole youth orchestra member in this national composer consortium, and presents the score to the 1925 silent film The Lost World, based on Sir Arthur Conan’s 1912 novel by the same name. The season wraps up with a 10-day concert tour to Greece where musicians will perform in Athens, Volos, and Thessaloniki. As you can see, there are exciting things on the horizon for our musicians!
